The Boston Junior Penguins Program was founded by former professional hockey player and Princeton University player John Messuri.
Coach Messuri played college hockey at Princeton University (1985-89) where he was the team's leading scorer in each of his 4 seasons as a Tiger. Upon graduation, John played for the Johnstown Cheifs in the East Coast Hockey League, the Maine Mariners in the AHL and the Flint Bulldogs in the Colonial Hockey League.
From 1994 - 2010, Messuri was the head coach of Winchester (MA) High School. While at Winchester, he lead the Sachems to win the Massachusetts Division 1 State Championship in both the 1997-98 and 1999-2000 seasons. In 2012 he took over the struggling Arlington High Program and quickly led them to a Div 1A Super 8 title.
